What is the fourth trimester? This is described as the 12 week period starting with your baby’s birth. For many moms, the first few weeks are hard! Feelings of overwhelm and uncertainty are normal. You are exhausted! And while everyone around you might be excited and positive, it’s ok …and normal…to think not everything is quite so perfect.

What is a perinatal behavioral health coach?A Perinatal Behavioral Health Certified (PBHC) Coach supports individuals going through emotional challenges during pregnancy, postpartum, or perinatal loss. PBHC Coaches help parents struggling with depression, anxiety, birth trauma, guilt, overwhelm, grief, transitioning to parenthood, relationships, going back to work, and more. What is postpartum depression?Postpartum depression (also called PPD) is a medical condition that many women get after having a baby. It’s strong feelings of sadness, anxiety (worry) and tiredness that last for a long time after giving birth. These feelings can make it hard for you to take care of yourself and your baby. PPD can happen any time after childbirth. It often starts within 1 to 3 weeks of having a baby. It needs treatment to get better. (as defined by March of Dimes)

Did your delivery go as you had hoped?Maybe your delivery was not as you had planned. Perhaps an emergency C-section. Perhaps a premature delivery. Perhaps your baby required extra support. Moms need a safe space to discuss potential birth trauma.

What do I do now that my NICU baby is discharged from the hospital and transitioned to home? Many NICU families spend weeks to months in the NICU environment. The NICU becomes your “family”. Once your little one is healthy enough to go home, it can be a very isolating time. You no longer have the daily contact of your NICU “family”. You must protect your infant from the outside world and germs, so you stay home… and might feel quite lonely.
